Join us as we wrestle with our most sacred text, seeking to discover its contemporary meaning. Torah study, facilitated by Rabbi Carr, meets on Saturday mornings from 9 to 10 am. Participants, ranging from longtime students to newly interested beginners, learn to view the text through the lenses of their lives. Through discussion and debate, we draw on the breadth of our own experiences to reveal hidden layers in our foundational book. We also provide bagels, juice, and coffee. Come for the community; come for the learning; come for the nosh – for whatever reason you come, you will find your Shabbat mornings elevated and enriched!
Living Ethically
Come learn how the ethical guidance our tradition offers us helps as we navigate the stormy seas of daily life. Using “The Book of Jewish Values,” by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin, we explore issues ranging from business ethics to interpersonal conduct, from giving tz’dakah to avoiding gossip, from helping others to helping ourselves. The class functions primarily as a discussion group, with participants drawing on their own experiences and insights to build a shared dialogue of ethical commitment. No previous knowledge is required, and drop-in attendance is welcome.
This class, led by Rabbi Carr, is held on Thursday mornings from 11 am to 12 noon.
