Lowell is serving his second year as President.He had served for two years as Vice President of Membership and Community.He has been the synagogue’s representative to the Union of Reform Judaism and headed the Hineini campaign.Lowell, his wife Jane, and their sons Jake and Ben have been members of Congregation Or Ami for 11 years.A native of Brooklyn, New York, Lowell graduated BrooklynCollege in 1970 and the University of Maryland School of Law in 1973.He moved to Philadelphia in 1973 to start his legal career as a trial attorney for the Internal Revenue Service.In 1977 he received his LLM in Taxation from New YorkUniversity and since 1978 has been in private practice in the Philadelphia area, presently with Fineman, Krekstein & Harris.Since 1981, Lowell has been a Lecturer in Law at the Villanova School of Law, Graduate Tax Program.Lowell’s interests include exercising, reading and attending his sons’ sporting events.
Lori Simon is presently serving as Vice President of Finance and Operations for Congregation Or Ami.She also served for three years as Chair of the Religious School Committee.She and her husband Michael have been congregants for 12 years and live in Lafayette Hill.They have two children, Stephanie and Matthew.Lori grew up in Cherry Hill, NJ and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1986.She then worked for several years in the Corporate Banking and Commercial Finance industries in Philadelphia before joining her family textile business, Materials International.After managing the operations of Materials International for ten years, she, along with her brother, embarked on their own venture, Vine Street Imports, in 2003.VSI specializes in importing fine, rare and artisan wines from Australia and New Zealand.Lori enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and likes to travel, read, and play tennis.
Jacqueline Konin, VP of Worship & Education
This is Jackie's first year as Vice-President of Worship & Education. She has previously served as President of the Nursery School PTO for 3 years, and Chair of the Nursery School Committee for 4 years. She has also served on Sisterhood, ReligiousSchool and Hospitality Committees. Jacqueline and her husband Michael have been members of Or Ami for 10 years. They have 3 children: Brooke, Courtney and Matthew. Jackie grew up in Metuchen, New Jersey. After graduating from GeorgeWashingtonUniversity in 1986, she attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a Master's Degree in Social Work in 1988.She worked as a clinical social work supervisor for various organizations, including Jewish Family and Children's Services, for over 11 years. Jackie, along with 2 other congregants, recently opened "therapy", a women's clothing and accessories boutique located in Blue Bell. In addition, Jackie has run the Culinary Arts Program at Sesame/Rockwood Day Camp for the last 5 summers. She enjoys quiet time with her family, reading, Pilates, and is a big Lost fan.
Beth Waks, VP of Membership & Community
Beth Waks is serving her first year as Vice President of Membership & Community.She served for two years as Chair of the Membership Committee in addition to volunteering on various other committees, including the Religious School Committee and the Mitzvah Corps.Beth and her husband Bob, Past President of Brotherhood, joined the congregation in 1997.They are proud of their distinction as being the 50th members during Or Ami’s 50th Anniversary year.Beth received her undergraduate degree from NorthwesternUniversity and an MSW from the University of Pittsburgh.She is a licensed marriage and family therapist and maintains a private practice in Lafayette Hill.Beth enjoys spending time with her family, talking to people, reading, walking and relaxing down the shore.
